Promised Heights

UK Rasta-funk outfit Cymande’s songs have been heavily sampled by the hip hop community and are one of those groups whose music you may have heard even if you didn’t realise it. Their third album features more of their unique hybrid funk sound based around layers of bongos, congas, timbales and percussion, jazz guitar, unearthly, ethereal horn lines and an aesthetic that is reflective and full of space and atmosphere. Meditative jazz-tinged soul and funk that really doesn’t sound like anyone else.
