Dub in the Roots Tradition

Before he won the World Cup, met the Space Invaders or rid the world of the evil curse of the vampires, Hopeton “Scientist” Brown was a diligent student under the tutelage of King Tubby. Purportedly made when Brown was just 16, this dub set draws on riddims laid down by two of the most prolific house bands of the era: Soul Syndicate and Roots Radics. Scientist’s reverb and delay takes every bass note and snare hit and makes them ductile, stretched into disorienting new shapes.
