Shadows and Reflections

Marc Almond followed his initial full solo restart The Velvet Trail with a slightly characteristic move: a covers collection of favorite songs from the 1960s, the first such release he’d done in full since Stardom Road, and in ways a further outgrowth of his continuing live work with Jools Holland in that general field. Almond snuck in a couple of enjoyable originals like “Embers” but the focus is on his ever-rich gift at celebration and reinterpretation, with highlights including “The Shadow Of Your Smile,” the Yardbirds’s “Still I’m Sad” and Barry Ryan’s “All Thoughts Of Time.”
