Share My Love

Released

A superb little-known Motown album from singer/songwriter Gloria Jones from 1973, Share My Love wasn’t really promoted when it was released and at the time Jones decided to work with Marc Bolan rather than concentrate on her own singing career so it made little impact. Listening back now you hear a gloriously realised R’n’B/soul album with Jones’ big, Gospel-rooted vocals front and centre of a series of deep soul ballads, mid-tempo swingers and slinky, orchestrated funk tracks. Jones co-wrote much of the album and together with her sterling performances, the project clearly demonstrates that she was a serious talent. A well-rounded, semi-forgotten 70s soul set.
