That Space Somewhere

Released

The first Lull release in nearly 15 years, preceded only by 2008’s Like A Slow River, That Space Somewhere puts the listener immediately into the dark, cold sonic universe familiar from Mick Harris’s previous releases under the name. It’s like a cross between Alan Splet’s sound design for David Lynch’s Eraserhead and Thomas Köner’s Arctic gong-polishing, and listening to it on headphones is like being locked inside an unlit walk-in freezer with nothing but the sound of your own pulse and maybe some tinnitus to keep you company. It seems designed for vinyl, as three of its four tracks are in the 15- to 16-minute range, while the last is just short of 11, but the density of its low frequencies really demands the fidelity of digital.
