The Garden of Mirrors

Released

Stephan Micus plays more instruments (and plays them well) than perhaps anyone on the planet. And yet, there isn’t a shred of presumption in his invitational sound collages. On The Garden Of Mirrors, his focus is the human voice. At the center of his sacred coalitions of steel drums, sinding (West African harp), and flutes are his 20-part choruses. Non-vocal highlights include “Mad Bird,” a solo for Irish tin whistle, and “Words Of Truth,” a chant for six shakuhachis. Like vital organs in a healthy body, every note has its place.
