Though Tears for Fears had marked their reunion as a duo with a 2004 album essentially celebrating that fact, it was their full followup to that in 2022 following two decades of nostalgia circuit work which was the stronger effort, with both Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith showing their singing retains its warmth. Still grappling with wider issues in life as well as personal concerns, notably the passing of Orzabal’s long-time partner, The Tipping Point touches musically on their big 1980s sound with ease, adding in a bit of glammy stomp at points too.
