Total Pop! The First 40 Hits

Released

In a weird way, even though Total Pop! is by default a more comprehensive collection than the original Pop! compilation, the fact that it’s front-loaded with said original compilation tends to make Total Pop! ultimately feel like a slow falling off from chart smashes to less successful runs. But by featuring the singles from less compelling full lengths as well as including some of Erasure’s all time best songs like the stellar “Always,” Total Pop! — which also came in deluxe editions with a variety of live cuts and TV appearances — smartly showcases a 25-year creative partnership.
