The blueprint for goth metal, sure, but so much more – a melange of all the sounds bouncing around Brooklyn as the 80s turned into the 90s, from thrash to hardcore to hip-hop (as evidenced by the skits heard throughout). Peter Steele rips out his heart and displays it for all to see, cracking ironic jokes the entire time to mask the pain.
